In the Product Categories option you will setup the category headings and sub-headings of your catalog, e.g. CDs, Appliances, Books. The categories will be displayed in alphabetical order. Sub-Categories are listed under their main category and are indicated as a sub-category after the category number. The category number displayed in the category heading is used for the External Load feature when you are uploading a mass of new products from your internal database. You can view your current categories by clicking on the red drop down box next to the Product Categories option on the Navigation Bar.

The Make Private feature is used to create categories for specific customers. Background colors for each product category button can be added, as well as the ability to reposition and delete categories from this screen. There is also a direct link to the products list for that category where you can view, add, change, or delete an item.

Make Private - this option is used when you wish to have a select group of categories/products only available for certain customers. Private Categories do not appear on the main page of your catalog. They are only viewable to the customer once they have logged in and have accessed My Account. Check the Make Private box to make a category private for specific customers, then click the Update button. If this is a main category, any sub-categories will also be private, but you must click the Make Private box for each main and sub-category for it to be selected for a customer. If you wish to select a private sub-category for a customer, you must also select that main category for it to be viewed by that customer. When you reposition a category, the private categories will be marked Private. For additional instructions on how to set up a customer for private categories see the document for Create Customer. If you remove the Make Private setting, that category will be deleted from the customer's private category list. If you later make the category private again, you must go back and reselect those categories for that customer.

Set Category Graphics  – if you click this button a pop-up box will appear with ffive choices for each category button. In the first choice, Upload your Button, you can choose to upload a graphic button that you have created yourself. You can create your own buttons with unique graphics and/or text and then upload your button to the server. You must create your buttons outside this software and then use the Browse button to retrieve the image as you would do with any other picture or graphic.

When you choose to upload your own graphic, another popup window will appear that allows you to select the image from your own files. You can also choose another Button Rollover image. Click the Browse button to select the button graphics that you have created for both the button and the rollover.

You can also choose a ready to use button graphic as you did in Catalog Basics by clicking the Choose a Graphic Background and simply clicking on the button for the style and color you wish to select. You can click the Choose a Solid Colored Background button and another pop-up button for colors will appear. Simply click on the button for the color you wish to select. If you wish to remove the background for a category, click the Remove Background Images button. After making your selection of background, you must click the Update button for each category that you are adding, changing or removing.

The Upload a Picture option allows you to add a graphic to the Item List category heading. Just click the browse button to upload your graphic and click the submit button. For example, you would use this feature if your category name is Batteries and you use a generic battery picture for all batteries in that category. The title Batteries will appear at the top of the list and your picture will appear to the right of the heading. You can still add a specific picture to each item as you normally do.

If you wish to remove the background for a category, click the Remove Background Images button. After making your selection of background, you must click the Update button for each category that you are adding, changing or removing.
